Kijiji Yeetu, the Ugunja Youth Parliament, and Ugunja Net Wardens in collaboration with ISOC Kenya, the Internet Society Kenya Chapter, Jaramogi Oginga University, and United States International University Africa. This event will focus on enhancing encryption, digital literacy, and security for teachers, net wardens, and underserved communities in Ugunja. The initiative aims to spark a nationwide impact by empowering participants to harness technology creatively and securely.
The training will specifically target community groups, activists, paralegals, bloggers, and gender advocates, equipping them with knowledge about privacy-enhancing tools and safe internet practices. With 90% of people relying on mobile phones, addressing security and privacy concerns is crucial, especially given limited government controls and the risk of cyberattacks. This workshop will tackle these vulnerabilities, empowering participants to protect themselves and advocate for their digital rights. Central to the training is digital literacy, which guides participants in safe internet navigation. Through hands-on workshops and interactive sessions, they will acquire essential skills, such as personal information protection, using tools like the Tor browser, and understanding digital rights.
